EVENT
April 14—April 17, 2025
US-Singapore Workshop on DeepTech Innovation and Partnerships
ABOUT THE EVENT
Sponsored by the US National Science Foundation (NSF), Northeastern University’s Institute for NanoSystems Innovation (NanoSI), MTM Venture Partners, Enterprise Singapore, and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore, with A*Star as a supporting partner, will co-organize the US-Singapore Workshop on Deep Tech Innovation and Partnerships, which will be held in Singapore in April 2025.
Deep tech innovations typically require more time and resources to reach market readiness and, as demonstrated in the semiconductor industry, often can only be achieved through international partnerships of companies with complementary capabilities. In this context, the workshop brings together US and Singapore-based stakeholders from government, academia, incubators, and startup companies to:
- Better understand the needs and wants of US & Singapore deep-tech startups
- Review existing government and private-sector programs for deep-tech startups in the US and Singapore: identify strengths, weaknesses, gaps, and opportunities
- Brainstorm new programs that could be created for US and Singapore deep-tech startups
- Share best practices to encourage the formation of deep-tech startups in the US and Singapore

A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics (IME) is a leading research institute under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). It accelerates innovation in areas such as advanced packaging, PiezoMEMS, SiC, RF/mmWave GaN, photonics, sensors and circuit design. By offering comprehensive R&D solutions and providing access to state-of-the-art technologies, A*STAR IME enables its partners and customers to commercialize differentiated products and contribute to the growth of Singapore’s semiconductor industry.
IME’s in-house cleanroom spans 3,000m² of Class-10 facilities, equipped with industry-standard 200mm and 300mm wafer processing equipment. It is supported by metrology, assembly, material characterization, and electrical characterization, which enables world-class research in advanced packaging, piezo MEMS, photonics flat optics, and wide bandgap semiconductors. The cleanroom tour offers an exclusive opportunity to explore both IME’s 300mm cleanroom and the National GaN Technology Centre’s cleanroom.
